Hi, I'm Shirley
Owner/managing director of Azarni Hair
In 1970 I began my career in hairdressing, I completed a traditional salon apprenticeship In Auckland. At the age of 24 I opened my first salon in North Auckland, I enjoyed the challenges of establishing and growing my own business.
I purchased Azarni Hair in 2005, which was originally down Cassabella Lane, I have continued to grow and evolve my skills in this time, by attending regular workshops, and ongoing training with various brands, as I believe you can never stop learning. I have also upskilled my qualifications to include modern NZQA certificate.
I consider myself to be a very experienced master colourist and stylist, having been in the industry for many years. I am blessed with having a great eye for colour and creating a style that suits my clients, also the ability to interpret a picture and recreate a style similar, as well as showing them how to maintain it at home.
Over the years I have fashioned hair for many different catwalks and fashion shows. I love doing hair ups, it’s something I am passionate about and get a huge buzz from.
In most recent years I have been active in speaking to classes at the local training institutes. Talking to young hairdressers that are just starting their career, about how they can grow and become excellent stylists, and what is expected in a salon environment.
I love the opportunity to pass on and share my knowledge in any way possible with my talented team, it’s rewarding to see them progress and develop their individual hairdressing styles.
I have been hairdressing for a very long time, and am still so passionate about the industry, I don’t think that will ever go away.
Hi, I’m Emma.
Senior Stylist at Azarni Hair.
Now currently in my 10th year of hairdressing and I am still absolutely loving it!
Hair and fashion is a huge passion of mine and I find there is nothing better than using my love of the art to create another’s happiness.
Growing up in a small town and off the farm, I stepped out of the mud and into a whole new world of fun and adventure.
I’ve always been a “little bit different” and are always up for a challenge of getting those around me to step out of their comfort zone and embrace the beauty you truly are.
Follow your inner moonlight; don’t hide the madness.
Hi, I'm Ashleigh
Hairstylist at Azarni Hair.
I have been hairdressing for the past 4 years, in this time I moved to Whangamata, where I worked as a hairstylist for a year. Living at the beach I got to experience the evolving beach wedding season, with hair ups almost every weekend throughout summer and the retro hair ups for beach hop. I returned home at the end of 2017 to further my career in the busy city Hamilton has now become.
I grew up on a dairy farm out in Pirongia where I spent most of my days playing outside exploring with my older siblings, I developed a great love for animals and being outside.
I am very passionate about my work and strive for perfection, I like to ensure every client leaves feeling great about themselves. Hairdressing is a form of art for me and I love the technical colour side of it, creating beautiful blondes and balayage in particular, although I enjoy all aspects of hairdressing.
I look forward to meeting you at Azarni!
Hi, I’m Hannah
Apprentice at Azarni Hair.
I am currently in the second year of my apprenticeship at Azarni Hair and I’m loving it.
After leaving school I worked in the hospitality industry for seven years in various customer service and management roles which gave me excellent people skills that I have transferred well into hairdressing.
I love all aspects of hairdressing and am always excited to learn new things. I believe in not just talking to clients but actually listening to their wants and needs, to achieve the best outcome to leave them looking and feeling great.
Come in see me at Azarni, I would love to meet you and help you with hair needs.
